The name CLOUD brings with it a proud heritage that has been documented by many and varied publications and persons
through the years. The basis of my research includes some of those sources as well as my own and family records.

Of most interest is the foundation of the name "Chads" in the CHALFANT lines.
When Sarah Cloud...granddaughter of Francis Chads and Hester Coleman, daughter of
Mordecai Cloud and Sarah Chads ...married Robert Chalfant, she honored her mother by naming her firstborn son "Chads,"
her mother's maiden name. The name has remained part of every generation in the Chalfant family from that day to this.
